About Us

Iowa Library Commons was created shortly after the re-organization of the Library Services Areas (LSAs) and the State Library in 2011. The new agency was renamed Iowa Library Services (IaLS). An important part of the strategic plan for this new agency was increased and improved communication between all library stakeholders. In the Iowa Library Services Strategic Plan FY13-FY17 which was approved on 6/7/2012 by Commission of Libraries and the FY13 strategies approved 6/7/2012 by Commission of Libraries included  this activity: "Develop a process for identifying, collecting & sharing success stories." Iowa Library Commons is the result of this and represents the vision of Iowa Library Services and the Advisory Committee as well as contributions from all types and sizes of Iowa Libraries.

Iowa Library Commons uses Omeka and resides on a server at SILO, Iowa State University, Ames, IA.
